JOMO

Week 3 update on my social media break. They told us at church that although we may have FOMO- fear of missing out, we will also have JOMO- the joy of missing out. And that’s exactly what is happening for me. That party I wasn’t invited to? I don’t even know about it because I haven’t seen the post. All the political commentary and arguing? Clueless! The bickering over the mosque in Broken Arrow? I’m missing all of it, but do confessed I have asked Jay about the drama on the BA Buzz Facebook page. Shopping? I am seeing way less adds and definitely don’t feel FOMO on things I think I need to purchase. There really is some freedom with this. I have missed Facebook for some things like a quilters group I am in. I have peaked a couple of times to get information I needed, but felt like I was following the rules as I was using it as a tool. Not to doom scroll or creep on anyone’s page.

I’ve “read” four books so far in 2025. Audiobooks count as reading a book, right? That wouldn’t have happened if I had been on Tik Tok or Instagram. I’m close to finishing a quilt. I have stitched 3 needlepoint projects and started my fourth. It’s darling and so big! Jay said it should count as 6 projects it’s so big. I’m going to make it into a pillow for the summer. Isn’t she lovely??

Speaking of needlepoint…We interrupt this regularly scheduled blog post to bring you an important update. My friend is opening the most darling new needlepoint store on Main Street in Jenks. If I wasn’t on my social media break I would be promoting the heck out of her. If you are on social media you can follow her here on Instagram or here on Tik Tok. Her grand opening is Friday and Saturday. I know it will be cold, but I promise it will be worth braving the weather. The store is called Needle Little Love and the owner, Shelly Burnham, has poured her heart and soul into this store. Even if you have never picked up a needlepoint canvas in your life, but you are curious! Stop by! She has beginner projects and will get you fixed up. You will not be disappointed!
