I’ll admit it. I’m a sucker for a snow day. I get as excited as an elementary school child when the forecast calls for snow. I don’t sleep with my pajamas on inside out like my Nenaw used to tell us to do, but boy do I hope for snow. I was thrilled a couple of weeks ago when we got several inches. I prepped like it was the year 2020. Plenty of toilet paper and food for at least a week. Firewood stacked high. And most importantly, plenty of grandma hobbies to keep me busy.

I’m in “quilting season” as I have deemed it. I am still needlepointing some, but when summer comes I want to be outside doing all the things. I can easily take a needlepoint canvas outside with me, not so much a quilt. I declared January to be “no spend January” and “shop my stash” January. Meaning, I could not buy and new fabric or canvases. I have enough of each to keep me busy for several months.
I decided to break out my fabric that I collected during the Green Country Shop Hop last April. I made a video about it last year. You can view it here . Essentially, I went around to like 12 quilt stores on this side of the state and collected fabric and instructions to put together a quilt. I am not really sure why I put it off. I think I didn’t love the purple shade in the quilt. But, as I started piecing it together I really grew to like it.
Each store was charged with putting the quilt together in a unique way. You could pick which finishing kit to purchase. I chose the finishing kit from McCalls in Skiatook and love the way it turned out.

I loved every minute of the long weekend (turns out we were snowed in Monday), and am now ready for spring and summer!!
